Audrey Hepburn (4 May 1929 – 20 January 1993) was a English-Dutch actress and humanitarian.
Born in Ixelles, Brussels, Belgium, as Audrey Kathleen Ruston, Hepburn spent her childhood chiefly in the Netherlands, including German-occupied Arnhem, Netherlands, during the Second World War. She studied ballet in Arnhem and then moved to London in 1948, where she continued to train in ballet and worked as a photographer"s model. She appeared in several European films before starring in the 1951 Broadway play Gigi. Hepburn played the lead female role in Roman Holiday (1953), winning an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA for her performance. She also won a Tony Award for her performance in Ondine (1954). She was also a member of the International Best Dressed List since 1961.
Hepburn became one of the most successful film actresses in the world and performed with notable leading men such as Gregory Peck, Rex Harrison, Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper, Cary Grant, Henry Fonda, William Holden, Burt Lancaster, Fred Astaire, James Garner, Peter O"Toole and Albert Finney. She won BAFTA Awards for her performances in The Nun"s Story (1959) and Charade (1963) and received Academy Award nominations for Sabrina (1954), The Nun"s Story (1959), Breakfast at Tiffany"s (1961) and Wait Until Dark (1967).
She starred as Eliza Doolittle in the film version of My Fair Lady (1964), becoming only the third actor to receive $1,000,000 for a film role. From 1968 to 1975 she took a break from film-making to spend more time with her two sons. In 1976, she starred with Sean Connery in Robin and Marian. In 1989, she made her last film appearance in Steven Spielberg"s Always.
Her war-time experiences inspired her passion for humanitarian work and, although she had worked for UNICEF since the 1950s, during her later life she dedicated much of her time and energy to the organization. From 1988 until 1992, she worked in some of the most profoundly disadvantaged communities of Africa, South America and Asia. In 1992, Hepburn was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. In 1999, she was ranked as the third greatest female star of all time by the American Film Institute.

衰老对于正处在韶华光景的我们来说,是神秘得带点恐慌的.十三四岁时几个小女生坐在一起聊天,不经意就触及关于老死的话题,最漂亮可人的那个女孩说：“我希望在30岁的时候因事故死去,这样才会是绚烂年华完美的终结,若让我眼睁睁地看着自己的容颜慢慢衰颓凋谢,实在是一件可怕的事.”她双手托腮,微微眯起眼睛,仿佛在叙述一件与己无关的话题.尽管我们都明白只是孩子气的玩笑罢了,但如此惊世骇俗的论调若是被长辈们听到仍是会大骂的,而同龄的我们虽然认为极端,可似乎也找不到有力的理由反驳.年少的我们总是希冀长久沐浴在明媚温煦的光晖中,难以预想皑皑雪痕渐次滞于发际的落寞与苍凉.

我也羡慕我的祖父母,喜欢抚摩祖母枯瘦皱焉的双手,那里写满辛劳却甜蜜的过往；喜欢轻轻梳理祖父灰白稀零的头发,那里记录了沧桑且厚重的点点滴滴.祖母比祖父小十岁,当年秀美爽利的祖母经由她姐姐的介绍,悄悄瞅视着照片上身着戎装气宇轩昂的男子,一些微妙的情绪便悠悠然在心中漾开来……翻开旧黄的老相册,一个少女斜倚在油漆斑驳的门边,两条粗黑的麻花辫闲闲垂在肩前,明眸皓齿衬着青涩的笑靥,越发显得鲜亮动人——那是我年轻的祖母.祖父少时因为家贫而入伍,随着解放军辗转奔波于枪林弹雨里,尔后又在战争中负伤,在部队里休养了几年,遇到祖母那年已经27岁了.彼时祖父因为没有文化,也因为他的温厚无争,退伍后仅仅被分配到一家房管所做瓦匠,看着他的许多战友纷纷获得优厚的工作待遇,祖母从不埋怨,她和祖父一起为家庭辛苦地操持奔波,可在艰难的岁月里自然免不了一些细琐的分歧,年长的祖父也总能以他的宽容和默默给予,令祖母感受到那份厚重踏实的幸福.退休后祖父爱钓鱼,满载而归时又禁不住钓友的怂恿去喝上几杯老酒,回到家自知免不了老伴的数落,常常在祖母开口前憨笑道：“瞧瞧这些鱼多新鲜,明天把孩子们都叫来尝尝啊!”祖母嗔怪地看着眼前的老小孩,一边又欢喜着去给我们打电话……我常常安静地依在祖母身旁,痴痴听着她关于当年的怀想,黯淡的容颜现出青春的光彩来.“年轻真好,可是现在也很好”,她喃喃自语着,一边轻轻抚弄我的发梢,眼光又温柔地落在摩擦鱼具的祖父身上.几十年风雨如晦,他们携手共渡,以彼此的互诚相守释解了曾经的龃龉与磕绊,换来了而今夕阳的灿美光泽毫不吝惜的倾洒浸润.“死生契阔,与子成说；执子之手,与子偕老”,就这样相依相偎到白头,平淡也罢琐碎也好,又何尝不是完美的人生?
平凡如我,无法预知未来,只是静静守望在时间的无涯荒野,怀想老去的美丽……

Audrey Hepburn is one of Hollywood"s all-time greatest actresses.She is famous not only in the USA,but also in other parts of the world.When Hepburn died in 1993,the world mourned the loss of a great beauty,a great actress and a great humanitarian.
Hepburn was born in Belgium on 4th May 1929.She began taking ballet lessons at a very young age.She loved dancing and her dream was to become a successful ballet dancer.She had put most of her effort into ballet training before she entered the film industry.She had also been a model before she became a Hollywood superstar.
In 1951,while acting in Monte Carlo Baby,Hepburn met the famous French writer Colette wrote a novel called Gigi The novel was later made into a play,Colette insisted that Hepburn was the perfect girl to play the lead role in the play.That event marked the beginning of her successful career.
Shortly after ,Hepburn was chosen to play the lead role of a young princess in the Hollywood film Roman Holiday .It was a big success and Hepburn became famous immediately.She won an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in this film.Later,she acted in the play Ondine and won a Tony Award for it.
During her lifetime,Hepburn earned four more Oscar nominations.Some of the well-known films that Hepburn acted in include Funny Face,Breakfast at Tiffany"s and My Fair Lady.In 1989,Hepburn made her final appearance in her last film Always,and she played the role of an angel.Some people thought that she was playing herself,because to them,she herself was an angel!
